1. This was a great informative video on how to improve your personal learning network, It informs students of the different ways that they can learn outside of lectures and a textbook. It tells that not only can students learn from outside sources, but they can also teach the same thing to others. It provides a great way on how to share knowledge with others.
The student in the video has the opportunity to learn as much information about a subject as well as other students without the use of a textbook. With the help of personal learning network he actually communicated with the author of his classmates' textbook. Most students do not take advantage of networking with others. They do not realize how easy that they can communicate with authors.
I am not prepared to teach a connective student. After I graduate I have to make sure that I am very educated in my field of study. With all of the outside resources available, I have to make sure that I am prepared to answer the questions or comment on any remarks from the students that they learn from sources on the internet. I think that there should be a media class in every school so that teachers can focus on what they are to teach instead of helping the students create a personal learning network.
2. Personal learning environment goes hand in hand to personal learning network. The environment is where one may organize all of their networks onto one home page.
3. Michael Wesch is an amazing educator. It is true that today's generation is more focused on themselves. Some are steadily looking to find themselves and many times that takes place in the classroom. They try to relate themselves to what is going on the classroom. Many call it selfish.
As a future educator, I will try to relate as much of my lessons as possible to the students daily life so that they will be interested in the lesson.
The machine is definitely changing us. I have not yet come to know why some feel as if they have to entertain the world with home footages on you tube. We do not know the 1.4 billion people on the planet who may view the video.

Blog Post 5
The benefits of podcasts in the classroom video was very informative. It tells that humans born after 1980 is more involved with technology. Technology is a new way of producing one's creativity. Podcasts is a great way that teachers enhance students learning without the students actually being in the classroom.
Judy Scharf's podcast collection site is also great. It consists of many links which inform one on how to use podcasts. After one visit this site and go through the links they will know what a podcast is, how to create one, and the importance of using a podcast.
The education podcast network is a useful site for all educators. It is a site that educators come together to share their insights on the particular subjects that they teach with the use of podcasts. It provides educators podcast programming that will help another educator increase their knowledge on a subject so that they can be better teachers to their students.

Don't Teach Your Kids This Stuff. Please?
Kids are being introduced to technology at a very early age and at a fast pace. There are many negative aspects to that that most guardians have not recognized. One should understand firmly that kids/students are CURIOUS. They are curious to know and experience all that they hear and/or think that a grown up does. Most of those curious kids have access to the internet. They use that access to browse the web about things that they wish to know. That's why many kids search porn and other sexual activities. Students should only have much access to the internet when they reach a certain maturity level. They should also be guarded while they have that access to the internet.
Scott McLeod is a husband, father, and educator. He currently has a teaching role at Iowa State University. He is also the Director of the UCEA Center for the Advanced Study of Technology Leadership in Education.
The ISchool Initiative
Travis believes that all shoule be aware and ready to take on th ISchool Initiative in schools. He believes that the ISchool Initiative is not limited to sources that will make a students' education easier and more convient. Everything that the student will need will basically be there in the palm of their hands in order to complete an assignment. Travis believes that this will save more money and we a more reliable source in the classrooms.
I believe that the ISchool Initiative will teach kids how to take the easy road in life instead of really working towards what they want in life. It is more convient to do school work but it is also an easier way to cheat instead of actually studying. I don't think that grade school students should have that kind of access. They should go through the full process of learning how to solve a problem. It is an easy student for college students to havee. It's very convient to them because most of us have part/full time jobs.
Lost Generation
My first reaction was to believe that this world was coming to an end soon. I instantly thought about my faith in God. I did not question my faith, however I did question other's faith. I did not want to accept the fact that people would put so much faith in technology over themselves and their own family.
I was very relieved when the video began to reverse itself. I loved the fact that it basically what the world would be like if man did not stop trusting technology so much. It also showed what it will be like if we take the world in our own hands and stop giving the world into the hands of a computer. The technology used to present this video was great. I will not be involved in the lost generation.

It is amazing at the things that one is able to do via internet. One does not have to be in the same country in order to make a video or any other media of art with another person whom they have never met. Internet access dies not limit the things that humans can do with creativity.

1.Michael Wesch: A Vision of Students Today
This video definitely grasped my attention right away. Instructors are issuing assignments on a daily basis that is not relevent to our profession. College students spend hundreds of dollars on textbooks that we may may open TWICE during the semester. It is time for everyone to understand what goes on iin the mind of students.
My college experience is similiar to the students in the video. I am guilty of being on facebook during all of my classes. It's hard to sit and listen lectures that come from teachers because most of them are dull. I believe that every educator should take a public speaking class every so often because it's not as easy as it seems to grasp and keep the attention of others.
Technology has become addicting. I believe that in order to maintain students' interest, technology has to be involved some point throughout the lesson. The tradition of learning is school is gone. Times has changed.
2. Kelly Hines: It's not about the Technology
This article is somewhat opposite if the Michael Wesch video. This article teaches that learning is not all about involving technology. An instructor may "teach" a lesson but students are not always learning. I believe that teachers cannnot be left behind in the tradition way of teaching. Technology is not always necessarily. Teachers must be able to present a lesson using their personal creativity.
Technology is useful in the classroom, however it is not always needed. I believe that in order for students to become creative, they do not need to abuse it with technology. A great teacher can teach their students a lesson without the use of technology. Many people beacome instructors, but it takes a great motivator to become a teacher.
3. Karl FishL: Is it okay to be a Technology Illiterate Teacher?
It is definately not okay to be a technology illiterate teacher. As I mentioned earlier, "Times are changing." In order to relate to the modern ways of learning, teachers must know more than the basics of the usage of technology. One should think that it is embarassion for a teacher to ask a student for assistance with a computer.
Technology can be used for more than just surfing the web. Additional homework assignments can be found on the web as well as online tutors. Many researh papers are done on a computer. Teachers should be able to help their students search the web for effective articles when they assign their students research papers.
4. Gary Haye: Social Media Count
It was scary for me to look at the numbers add so quickly. All throughout the night people all over the world are creating new accounts. They are introducint themselves to rely upon technology more and more.

Week 2 Blog Assignments
1. Did You Know
This film should be a wake up call to most in numerous ways. It shows that technology is taking over our lives. There is such a high rate of unemployment due to the fact that modern technology are doing the jobs that humans used to do. It connects to the fact that the United States has low birth rates, and it's simply because citizens cannot afford babies. Citizens are steadily losing their jobs due to technology. I believe that most people should major in technology because computers are dominating other occupations.
It's scary to realize that a computer will be invented to be smarter than a human. I cannot digest that fact to well. I fear that if we do not stop putting so much faith in computers, and wanting to improve technology so much then we will have a computer running as president over the United States, The U.S. is behind in technology, but I don't think that it's a bad thing. At least we are not totally depending upon technology in our daily routine.
2. Mr. Winkle
Mr. Winkle is an old man who does not want CHANGE! He doesn't want to improve technology. He is set to tradition in his classroom and is not open to learning new things. I do feel as if computers play an important role in the classroom. Teachers do their daily attendance by their computer in their room. Smart boards are now available in most classrooms which is helpful to visual learning students.
Many students are capable of going home and searching for extra work to help them in a particular subject that they are weak in. There are also online instructors to help students with problems if the student is away from school. Computers are very effective in the schools.
3. Sir Ken Robinson: The Importance of Creativity
I loved this film. It taught me the importance of helping students to use their creativity instead of ignoring their talents. Educators are so quick to tell a student that they are wrong. The students eventually develop a fear of failure which causes them not to express themselves. That also leads to students becoming followers instead of leaders.
There are also many educators who focus more on having a quiet classroom without any interruptions while a lesson is and after it has been taught. I feel that it is very important to allow a student to express what they have learned and for them to elaborate on it. It is also important to help students who may be a "disturbance" in the classroom to fine a passion in anything that interests them.
4. Vicki Davis: Harness Your Students Digital Smarts
This film was great! It helped me to realize that students do not need to depend on their instructor for everything. The students from the movie did not only learn to do fun things on the computer, they learnt to be INDEPENDENT! The teacher forces the students to learn in independently and also in a group. The students have the opportunity to teach themselves. It's great when a teacher and a student can learn at the same time.
Media classes are just as important at the basic "R's" within the school. The world is changing minute by minute, and it's up to the instructors to help inform the students of the importance of learning new technology.

It's All AbOuT Me~!~
Hi everyone! I am Jasmine Marshall. I was born here in Mobile but was raised in a small rural area in Clarke County called Chance, Al. I was born the youngest of my siblings. I come from a close knit family. As a pastor, my father instilled in me the traits of being a God-fearing responsible young lady. I transferred to South in fall of 2008 from Alabama Southern Community College to further pursue my education. I am a junior who was forced to change my major from collaborative special education 6-12 to elementary/special education. I pray that I still get the chance to work with secondary special need students. That it where my passion lies.
As weird as it may sound I LoVe to READ! I could sit and read a great book twelve hours out of the day. I also love to shop and be among the presence of friends. I am interested in learning new theories and procedures in this class. I look forward to meeting everyone again at our next mandatory class meeting. Let us all have a joyous semester~!~
